I just wanted to reflect on my thoughts, and share what this game has meant to me. Being involved in this sport for over 12 years being a coach, parent, and sounding board for others it has been a pleasure sharing weekend after weekend with the same ole friends and also meeting new people and just sitting around and sharing their views on what the future holds for this great sport. The most valued times are well spent with the fastfoods, drinks, hot sun,and the constant picking on each other as we all get our dose of skin cancer, and compare our crows feet around our eyes while we squint from 8:00 in the morning until 7:30 at night. They call it age lines, but I call it too much exposure !! The noise from the rush while entering the gates of the ball park, pay your fee, and find somwhere to plant your bootie, to watch your favorite team participate. It becomes part of your being, maybe just a little compulsive in nature, but still enjoyable weekend after weekend after weekend trying to reach that college goal !! Sometimes you get caught up in it,and sometimes you just wish the day was over nevertheless it is a time well spent with your kid or someone elses kid that you are there to support. The 2008 softball season will be under way in the next couple of months and the Guru wishes all a great season. Remember if you are going to play the game play it with all your heart, you never know who is watching you !!!

    Best To All --- Guru

    Guru you must RUSH....

You must RUSH to your doctor's office, I believe the fever has gotten WAYYYYYY OUTTTTTTA HAND! LOL

I agree with everything you said, but you did leave out a few things!
Like sitting or standing in the pouring rain watching our DDs play in rain & mud, knowing they would have to get into our vehicle eventually!
Eating hotdogs that cost way more than they were worth!
Standing huddled together with all the other parents attempting to stay warm so we didn't freeze to death seprately! LOL
The absolutely HILARIOUS things girls will do to entertain themselves between games or in a storm delay!
The rides home at night, when they have been on the field from 7:00 am til 1:00 am! And then the dreaded ride back to the field on Sunday morning, because we are in the losers bracket and we have to be there before God gets up! LOL
Walking around malls just to be in the air conditioning for a little while! I am sure the malls loved us! LOL
Staying in Motels at the beach, that I wouldn't normally allow my dog to sleep in! Those might be some of the best memories and laughs of all!
Listening to girls burp in everyway imaginable (wait a minute aren't these girls we are talking about LOL YEP, they are girls LOL)! If only their boyfriends now, could see them then! LOL
These are the best memories of my life! I would not trade them for any amount of money! They are PRICELESS! The friends made along the way are also priceless!
If you are a parent sitting out there wondering should you do the Tournament Ball thing, YES, you most certainly should, you will have the time of your life! Your DD will love it too! You will give up every dime you earn but it'll be worth it!
Every thing changes and everything grows! Take the time to make memories and to throw a wish up while a coin is tossed into the air and to spit some sun flower seeds!
Play ball and everyone have a competetive fun season!

    For love of the game

I have read many threads on this site. I learned of it from a friend and decided today to register so I could post. I played fast pitch for 15 years. It wasn't until I moved to NC that I had to stop playing because they don't have "Men's" Fast pitch here anymore. I played all over the US and Germany (ARMY). When deciding on a name I decided to use Jester because I was fortunate (?) enough to play The King and his Court 3 times and the Queen and her Court (Rosie Black) twice and between Eddie, Rich Hoppe, Rosie, and Lotta Chatter, I always seemed to make a fool of myself. This will be my fourth year coaching HS softball. Although North Carolina was a little later getting started with fast pitch, the players and coaches I have met have brought it quickly to the level of the other states. I can also say that although I knew how much I loved playing the game, I find so much joy watching and teaching others play this game that means so much to me. I'll stop rambling now. Just wanted everyone to know how much I enjoy this site and why.
