I talked with Eric Campbell about this back in the Spring of this year. These players have people pulling at them from every imaginable angle. First they have their college coaches who worry about workloads. Then they have summer coaches (mainly the Cape) who obviously want these type players playing for them. Finally, they have outside influences (family, friends, scouts, etc.) who put in there two cent on what would be best for the players future.

As far as I am concerned, there would be no bigger honor than putting on the red, white, and blue and playing for our country. Its funny that at the high school level, we often say, "if a player is good enough, the scouts will find him". Why is it that some of the top players in the country will let that get in the way of them playing for our country? I couldn't imagine how playing for Team USA could possibly hurt your draft stock.

I may just be ranting here, but it is frustrating that we can't take the top talent the country has to offer and put them on one team for international play.

    play it out

I agree about pride and honor in wearing the red, white, & blue. But shouldn't you be able to look at the requirements / schedule of that opportunity before you commit to it and keep the commitment in its entirety, or not accept it to begin with?

just seems to be a lot more of "me" in sports now than before.

I agree, EOR. There is nothing more than I love than seeing USA kick some butt. But I wish along with baseball but also basketball to take more pride.
