when is the weather...

College and cold in the mtns.

Can't speak for them all, but WCU, if there isn't snow on the ground and it isn't raining they are on the field. Cold temps don't deter.

Now in the dugouts they will put heaters to keep warm in between innings or while not on the field.

Watched a game last year at WCU when they played in the snow, not a downpour, but flurries the whole game.

Speaking of weather, how many bats a year do you reckon are ruined during high school and college during the cold months of baseball.

I do also agree that the body must work harder to maintain heat and thus could help increase the chance to get sick. Won't argue that point at all, and if I had my druthers it would be 70 degrees from the start of baseball til the end.

 

Quite a few, I'd wager - those Eastons high dollar ones say they aren't supposed to be used under something like 65 degrees or it voids their warranty. Well, 65 is hard to come by in the mtns until maybe June or something......

At WCU.......THEY PRACTICE. Only time they don't.......the field is too wet. Then they practice in the auxillery gym.

I'm told that they practice in it because they have to play in it.

 

Yep.........and the bats of the smart players are close to it too.
