What a Legion game!

What a game it was last night. With the rain pouring down and mud flying everywhere, it looked like a war zone out there. Everyone knew this would be a good one considering most of the players were from West Forsyth and North Forsyth and it is always a good one when they play during the school year. It was definitely a game full of twists. Winston-Salem went up 1-0 after 1 inning and Western tied it in the 3rd. Western took a 3-1 lead in the 5th when Jon Helsabeck drew a lead-off walk and Greg Holt then hit a 2 run HR. Winston-Salem then tied it after Zach Holderfield homered. Winton then took a 5-3 lead when Devon Hauser hit a 2 out double in the 8th. In the bottom of the 9th, John Stamper reached on an error by Hauser and then Helsabeck doubled off the centerfield wall scoring Stamper. As Helsabeck reached 2nd, Coach Hatcher and Lowe from Winston went out to argue the call at home and as all the attention was at home, Helsabeck to 3rd. This was later argued but time was never called so the play stood. On the next pitch, Winston-Salem pitcher Dustin Johnson threw a wild pitch and Helsabeck dove in head first tying the game. Johnson then struckout Freese and Guererie before walking the bases loaded. Tyler Manring then hit a 2-2 pitch over shortstop Wes Hobson's head to knock in the game winner.



This game had it all. One player was ejected in the game and coaches from both sides were warned numerous times throughout the game to calm down and talk to there coaches and players only. What a game it will be June 12 when Western has to play at Winston-Salem (North Forsyth HS)

Anyone else out there at this one?

 

Great game, just wasn't baseball weather, June 1st & people bringing propane heaters to the game. Should be a great game at WS.
