are heading to Louisville this week to play in the "2005 National High School Tournament". The interesting thing about this tournament is that all teams entered are true HS teams. All players must attend the same HS and no graduated seniors. There are several teams entered that have been ranked nationally the past few years. Seems to be teams from several states represented. I am posting the link.

Lumberton dropped it's 1st game in the tournament to PRP 1, 9-2.

West Henderson won it's 1st game 6-1 over Canton South.
Matthew Pruitt took a no-hitter into the 7th for WH before yielding a run on a walk and 2 hits. Seth Grant, Casey Allison, Daniel Hyatt, and Luke Smithson all had 2 hits apiece for WH. Canton South, which has 2500 students, was the 4th ranked team in Ohio this year in their classification.

    Lumberton lost

all three of its games in Louisville. Mac Read wasn't on the trip and he was the only full-time starter returning from the 26-3 team. Gonna take a bunch of hard work for the Pirates to be competitive next year as the varsity will pretty much have to replace eight starters. Two good lefty pitchers though in Read and Tre Britt so thats a darn good place to start.
