Thought I might as well start it up.
Does anybody think the Pioneers can beat West Charlotte? Just looking at the scores, WC played tough against Independence and Hoggard .. and thumped Crest. They must be gooooood.

WiseOne, we'd appreciate it if you'd pick WC ... it's good luck for Watauga

    Who knows

Watauga will be overmatched in speed and quickness for sure. It is obvious you load the box against Breitenstien and dare Watauga to throw. I know for a fact that West Charlotte is looking at the game film of the Watauga-Alexander Central game. The Cougars stoned the Big E and intercepted 3 passes. Watauga has had the line jammed on them all year and the only team able to shut down Breitenstien was the Cougars. One thing that could help Watauga is West Charlotte dropping it a few times. If it's really cold, they could drop it a few more. I think a win by Watauga would be great for them and the NW4A as well. West Charlotte is dangerous on kicks and punts because of their speed, so i would never allow them to return one, pooch it and punt it out of bounds. I would not have given the Pioneers a chance in hell of beating AC Reynolds, a team that I am sure that is better than West Charlotte. Go Watauga, Shock the World!!!

West Charlotte is like the old FSU teams...extremely fast and athletic at the skilled positions. Watauga is like the ole Woody Hayes' Ohio State teams, "grind 'em out", tough, smashmouth football.

As long as Watauga does not get "starstruck" being in a position they are not used to, the city boys from Charlotte won't be able to take the cold in them thar mountains. If Watauga sets the tone quick by being physical from the beginning, putting pressure on the qb and being aggressive in bumping their receivers, they can win this game.

But if they play conservative or the least bit timid, all they will see is the back of the jersey of the running back or receiver scoring down field

    To make a suggestion:

If I was Watauga, I would show how tough I was by wearing only my uniform on the sidelines (no jackets). The pretty boys from Charlotte all will be looking for something to keep them warm, but would be intimidated to see Watauga's toughness that the cold does not bother them. Don't underestimate how the weather can affect the players at WC

    Wet it!!!

Wet the field down really well around 3 pm. By 7:30, you got yourself a hockey rink. Watch the Lions slip and slide.

Watauga better watch out for #9. That little munchkin gets behind a huge offensive line and you can't see him. Next thing you know, you see him scampering down the sidelines before he's "seen"....and their QB is equally a strong runner. If the Pioneers can contain the long runs and force a couple of TO's....on to the next round
