I'm a Wolfpacker big-time, but I must admit that good pitching beat up on good hitting this past weekend. That's what they say will happen, isn't it?

    UNC vs NC State Series

I was at all three games. UNC did get great pitching in all three games and the bullpen was outstanding in games 1 and especially game 2. State I thought got great pitching performances in all three games as well. Both teams played good defense for the most part. The difference in this series was UNC's Pitching was just a little bit better than States. UNC scored 14 runs to States 5. Neither team tore it up at the plate but UNC did what it had to do to get the wins. Both teams are very good.

    Nice summary, Coach.

Predictably, it was a fun and exciting series. The rain made Saturday a long day; but, otherwise, it was great for those of us wearing blue.

Best of luck to both teams the rest of the season!

    Brackman?

    Prepster & Coach 27:

what's your impressions of Andrew Brackman as a pitcher? seems he's having a somewhat ineffective baseball season (or half season due to basketball. Come to think of it, he was mostly ineffective in basketball as well in 05-06).

    Brackman

My impression of him is he is extremely talented and has loads of upside. Heck the guy is 6'10 and athletic and can flat out bring it. I thought that he threw way too many breaking balls. Early in the game he was able to throw it for strikes but he got in trouble by getting behind in the count with breaking balls and (had) to throw the heater for strikes. Good hitters will hurt you in this situation I dont care how hard you throw. I dont think there is any doubt that if this guy worked at baseball year round he would be and early draft pick. Hey he still might be he is so talented. Miller was lights out period. This guys is the real deal. Woodard is so good its ridiculous. I sat right behind home plate and the movement on all his pitches and the change of speed on all his pitches - Well the guy is just a hell of a pitcher. Bard threw the best game I have seen him throw. He has great stuff and when he has great controll he is going to shut down alot of people. It was a fun series it was well played.

At the risk of sounding like Coach27's echo, I think Andrew Brackman's potential as a pitcher is extremely high. Like a lot of folks, I believe his future is clearly in baseball; so, if he loves baseball as much or more than basketball, I'd devote full time at this point to baseball if I were him.

I love watching him pitch and think that if he'd concentrate on baseball, he'd hone his mechanics sufficiently that he could expect to consistently deliver his pitches accurately. Once he begins to do that, he'll be "lights out" as a collegian and someone to watch professionally at the highest level.

I wish him all the best and look forward to watching him as his career progresses.
