WOW! After thinking that the Rocky Mount Easter Tournament would not be held this year, we are rescued by the good folks from waaay out west. Both these teams will travel over 350 miles to participate. This is really going to make the tournament special. A big "THANK YOU!!", to all involved. Anyone needing info about the area feel free to contact me.

These are two great baseball programs. I'm glad they are participating, but based on their history at tournaments...be careful what you wish for :handbang:

Both should be strong this year as both played young last year, if my old memory serves me correctly. Better strap it on when you play them.

    Great Tournament

SoutherNo1 I will miss u guys this year!! And for those who have never been to this tournament, it is a great facility for baseball and they do a great job for this tournament. I have certainly enjoyed the past four years!!! Especially watching Robbie Byrd hit that bomb into left center field lastyear into that house window and J-Rod on the mound!!! Good luck to all !!!! You won't be dissapointed in this tournament!!! I'm out of here...:newsmile21:

    - PRD, I don't have as fond a memory of that homerun as you, and BigByrd. It was doubly bad because son of PRD was HBP just before that. Son of Southerno1 did ok though. He wound up 9-1 on the year. HRs don't seem to faze him as much as they do his pop.

    - Coach Evans, are y'all having your own tournament this year, or playing closer to home ?

We are playing this year in the Hilltopper at Orange, Chapel and East Chapel Hill. I needed to play in a tournament closer to home as we host an 8 team JV tournament , in addition to the varsity playing and the travel kept me away from tending to it. Although I'd prefer to play teams other than ones we already for the most part play already, I felt this was necessary so I could get back to Roxboro quicker to tend to matters at our field. We have enjoyed our time in Rocky Mount playing great teams (whose coaches, especially Pat Smith at RM and Al Carter at Northern Nash are friends of mine) and in a fun atmosphere. It is a great tournament hosted by wonderful people!!

I like the idea of having a JV tournament. I hear that yours is getting to be quite an event.
