    Travis Padgett wins 100 meters at Penn Relays

    PHILADELPHIA — Franklin Field is an historic sports site.
    The NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles once called it their home field .
    Also, it’s long been the site of the prestigious Penn Relays, one of more well-known track & field meets in the country. The 112th edition of that competition was held Saturday.
    Clemson University freshman Travis Padgett was able to show his speed there for the first time. The Crest High graduate ran a 10.42 in the finals of the 100-meter dash to win the collegiate competition in that event.
    Padgett, who won the ACC 100 crown last weekend, now has won the 100 at four college meets this season. He has already qualified for the NCAAs in his specialty event this year.
    Next up for the Clemson athletes is the Orange & Purple Classic at the Tigers’ Rock Norman Outdoor Track Complex.
    Arkansas won the men’s crown and Villanova took the women’s title at the event
