Transfer question

    At what time is it appropriate to ask for permission to speak with another school about a transfer. Question 2 when should a coach make his offer to returning players. I assume both would be after the season has ended but how much after, I was told by folks that last year returning players did not receive their offer until august, seems a bit late to me.

    MOST schools have a coach/player meeting shortly after the season is over...1-2 weeks depending when the season finishes. Some schools are still playing after the semester is over, but I don't know any that wait till August. I'm sure there is, but I never heard of one and it would be completely unfair.

    You can't speak directly with another school until you get your release. You can ask for your release at any time. You do not have to wait until the season is over. Every situation is different; for some, they have reached the end of the line and it's time to hang up their spikes. For others, they made good contacts with coaches during their recruitment in HS and have relationships with those coaches. Once you have your release, they would be the first I would call.
