    Very timely post: My experience

With HS ball ending those kids playing in college will probably be receiving workout guides from their college coaches soon. These are often a shock to kids whose exposure to this sort of thing has been a HS weight lifting class run by the assistant football coach. Cardio, plyo, and core strength are usually all emphasized. Here's some thing to think about:

    1. Report in shape. Many college coaches will have fitness testing at the beginning or fall ball. This is one of your first opportunites to make an impression. Make it good one.

    2. Expect to be sore. Chances are you have never worked this hard before.

    3. If you're still playing travel ball consider playing an abbreviated schedule, especially if you're a pitcher. You need to arrive on campus conditioned but not necessarily 'game ready'. That's what fall ball's for.

    4. As fall approaches develop a solid dietary and rest routine. I've repeatedly seen kids breakdown mentally and/or physically fall semester of their freshman year. Many players say fall is actually tougher than spring. You CANNOT behave like a normal college freshman (late nights, alcohol, poor nutrition). If you do your career will be a short one. You have to learn to take care of yourself.

    Training regiment

My DD started her "Next Level" training program this week and it's going to be great. She has some partners to work with (including a younger brother that may challenge her). The program looks solid and will provide a fitness level well beyond what she's used to in high school and TB.
