By the way, doesn't your brother live in Malibu? How is he doing?...and more specifically, how is his house?

 

If you ever decide to adopt a new screen name, Braves, I'd suggest "Steel Trap!"

Long time residents of a canyon north of Malibu, my brother and his family...through a quirk of fate...are renting a home in a less immediately affected community, Thousand Oaks. In about a year, the completion of a new home will take them back.

In a phone conversation this afternoon, he talked about how concerned they are for their many friends in the Malibu area. He also said the smoke throughout the Los Angeles area was really thick.

Knowing that the area is subject to this sort of threat causes many of us to wonder why people would choose to accept the risk. However, when you visit and see first-hand the extraordinary scenery they experience 99% of the time (in stark contrast to so much of the surrounding L.A. region), you begin to understand why they do.
