    Seriously

    these are the best times of the baseball year. Right now , when no one is watching. This is when the real baseball players are made. Who is in the weight room? Who is swinging the stick every day? Who is busting their butt to get better , right now when there are no games to be played? Those will be the guys that get it done come spring. Those will be the guys that get better from year to year.

    "Great players are made in the off season , great teams are made during the season".

    I went by and watched Providence HS practice for a little while yesterday. Those guys are working hard....and looking good. Coach Hignight is licking his chops waiting for the season to begin. I think I overheard him to say, "Bags got nothing on us....." or something like that. But then again after all the grief I took from him saying I predicted Providence to come in 3rd place, I dunno. I might have imagined that.
