    Looking good

Coach Grudee always has these young guys playing up and they get better every week that I see them play. He is doing things right to get these guys ready for the big showcase events next year.

They overcame 5 early errors in the first game and came within 1 strike of making it to the championship game. Watch out for this team next year. I look forward to seeing them play this weekend at UNCW in the CCProspects event.

For a ballpark that has not seen professional baseball since the early 1970's, Fleming Stadium is in fabulous condition. In fact, it's probably in better shape than many parks that are still hosting minor league baseball. The large covered grandstand contains all the seating, half of which is plastic folding chairs and the other half which is metal benches. The park is home to a collegiate league team in the Coastal Plain League . It also is used by various youth leagues and is home to the Babe Ruth League World Series. Set in a residential neighborhood, Fleming Stadium is boxed in by streets on every side. Another charming ballpark which is a throwback to a different era in minor league baseball. The dugouts are really cool as they are underneath the stands, where Braves has a private recliner.

Cubs win Cubs win Cubs win!!!

Perfect Day. Perfect Stadium. Perfect Fans. Not so perfect Umpires!!

West Wake Wildcats 3 RBI Bandits 2 in a thriller
Carolina Cubs 6 Carolina Lake Monsters 3

Consolation game: Bandits 6 Monsters 5 in a comeback last inning win

Championship game: Cubs 16 Wildcats 0
MVP: Tanner Lovett who had the only home run of the day at a big park

    I enjoyed watching:

Wildcats: David Hamm getting out of a bases loaded jam in the last inning to save the win.
Wildcats: Jack Sinopoli (15 yr old) coming in to pitch against Cubs, who had just scored 10 runs in one inning, and not be scared out of his wits
Monsters: Will Byrd back in the batters box after getting a broken nose by a fastball a few weeks ago
Cubs: Chase McDonald mashing baseballs all over the field
Bandits: Zach Houchins getting 6 hits on the day in 7 at bats

Coach Ricky Keith took home the Waterford Plastic Crystal Trophy and has a prepaid Beefmastor dinner waiting for him anytime he wants to meet me there. If not used within 30 days it will transfer to Diesel1.

Thanks to everyone who helped with the event and to Coach Lancaster of Mount Olive and Coach Jones of Wesleyan for coming out to watch the kids play.

Was a fun day of baseball! Saw some snazzy defensive play, some ultra smooth defensive moves and man, we saw some balls get stroked!

Umpires did a fine job, as best I could tell... only only...uhm...missed one, but dang... the umpires are human and well, didn't effect the outcome...lol

Really, though... was a great day, a lot of fun! The boys had a large time and then a big ol' all you could eat feast at Bill Ellis afterwards... man, they did some major damage! I think they taught Rickey a thing or two today!

Got some pics I'll forward to you Stretchy... PM me your e-mail that can accept large files... Thanks for making it a fun day at a great ballpark!
