An awesome offensive effort by the young Mountaineers on an awesomely beautiful day for softball in Rutherford County as KM defeats RS 15-3. The Mountaineers are 4-0 playing some tough teams in St. Stephens, RS Central, South Point and East Burke. They have scored at least 6 runs in each of these games and have outscored their opponents 36-8!

ST STEPHENS CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY SOME TEAMS AGAIN IN THEIR CONF. B/C SOME OF THOSE ERRORS WON'T OCCUR AGAIN TO ALLOW SOME TEAMS TO SCORE 3 AND 4 UNEARNED RUNS IN THE LAST FEW INNINGS OF THE GAME. THEY LOST AN ALL STATE SHORT STOP LAST YR BUT HAVE QUICKLY FOUND ONE AND ARE READY FOR SOME GAMES. THEIR HITTING IS BACK STRONG AND THEIR 5 UNDERCLASSMAN THAT START ARE NOW FILLING IN SPOTS WELL TO FULFILL THE JOB OF THE 9 ALL CONFERENCE PLAYERS SAINT HAD LAST YEAR. WE ARE NOT MAKING ANY EXCUSES BUT WHEN YOU LOSE AN ALL STATE PLAYER AND 4 ALL CONFERENCE PLAYERS SOMETIMES YOU MIGHT NOT GEL AS WELL AT THE START OF THE SEASON BUT THEY ARE READY NOW FOR SOME BIG CONF. GAMES NOW. GOOD LUCK TO ALL TEAMS IN THE SWF3A!!

KM knows all about starting Soph's & Freshman. Last year they had 6 Starting Freshman. This year there is 1 Senior starter. Then there are 1 junior, 6 soph & 1 Freshman that start.

Looks like LM & SSHS will have some good teams for years to come!!!!!

    Good luck to all!!!!!

I agree that St. Stephens has a great team. KM fills fortunate to stay in the race with the top ranked team in the conference. Hope the team can catch a few breaks and compete until the end. They are very young and may not be able to compete with St.Stephens since they have their problems worked out. Fred T. Foard is also tough.
