I hope Stretchlon sees this ,and will give a recap of the Impact Invite. He's great at remembering details of games. Also, Braves, he can give a better answer to your question about how Rocky Mount & Rose are looking this year. He was at the game Friday, and can give an objective account.

    Impact Invite features outstanding teams

    Game 1: Ragsdale 5 CB Aycock 4
Garrett Davis, Grant Sasser, Brandon Price are 3 outstanding pitchers
Freshman switch hitting SS Connor Narron was very impressive
Both teams were hurt by 2 errors per side
Ragsdale overcame a shaky start by freshman pitchers
Catlin Carter closed out the game with a very deceptive delivery
Home Runs by Garret Davis and Tyler Rankin

    Game 2: Middle Creek 8 Randleman 1
Tyler Wood looked very strong on the mound
Mike Frongello also pitched some good innings
Middle Creek seemed to have solid batters all thru the lineup
Randleman elected to give most of their pitchers some work in the game
Tyler McSwain was able to hit a ball over the head of Quincy Latimore about 400 feet

Game 3: North Lenior 7 Northern Nash 6 (9 innings)
Best game of the Impact Invite in both years according to Andy Partin
NNash took a 2 run lead in the first inning 2-0
NLenior took advantage of walks and errors to score 5 runs in the third inning without getting a base hit 5-2
NNash answered with 4 runs on 5 hits in the fourth taking a 6-5 lead
NLenior ties game in the bottom of 7th and wins it in the 9th
Andrew Webb was outstanding in relief for NNash going 6 plus innings
Alphin, Sutton, Sowers, Pope and Croom all pitched for NLenior

These are just highlights that I observed as I did not score any of the games.

Andy Partin was the pregame guest on the Stretchlon Sports Show as the NN/NL game was taped for TV to be shown later this month. Andy spoke openly about the great exposure that high school baseball and the NC players are getting via Impact Baseball. He is totally dedicated to the game and the players. He did color commentary during the game and showed his expert knowledge of the game and his ability to evaluate the players is uncanny.

All in all it was a great day at Historic Fleming Stadium. Look for an even bigger event next year.

    Rose vs Rocky Mount observations

Rocky Mount hosted Greenville Rose on Friday afternoon. Lefty Chris Nelson was in total command for his 6 innings of work. Rose did not display the power hitting that they have shown in the past but they still are a championship type team suiting up about 30 players and all of them rooting for a win. Rocky Mount is a very solid well coached team especially when you consider they start mostly juniors and sophomores. Junior Jim Leggett a Rocky Mount starting pitcher since his freshman year and 9-1 as a sophomore got the start but was hurt by 2 errors and 2 questionable balk calls which led to 5 runs. Sophomore SS Dillon Cockrell tossed 3 plus innings and held his own against Rose. Coach Pat Smith will make sure that this team is ready to defend its conference title in spite of losing the conference pitcher of the year Ryan Waldrep, who transferred to South Brunswick. Final score Rose 7 Rocky Mount 2

    Rose

Seems that Rose HS is always very good in baseball , & in football too.
