Speed & Agility Training - Lorena Vela

    One of the most overlooked aspect to sports is the focus on core strength and speed and agility training in travel and school programs. Every athlete can be trained to be a stronger, faster athlete. Lorena Vela, 4 year starter in Softball at 2B/3B for UNC Charlotte, will lead Ascend's Speed and Agility STAQ Training. Lorena is pursuing her degree in Exercise Science and will graduate in May. Lorena can design sessions athletes of any age or sport. Currently she is working 1:1 with area athletes in soccer, football, softball and baseball.

    STAQ is a program based on 4 components: Speed, Technique, Agility, and Quickness. Every sport has an emphasis on one or more of these components. The program will take the athlete through a variety if exercises; such as ladder drills, circuits, agilities, plyometrics, and conditioning. By providing different methods of training, it will allow the athletes muscles to be confused, which in turn will help the athlete gain more strength than the traditional one movement exercise. STAQ will improve the athletes physical as well as mental ability. Lorena is offering classes (see below) as well as 1:1 instruction from Ascend Sports in Stanly County.

    Session 1: Starts week of January 7th:
    Wednesday 6:00 - 7:30
    Saturdays 4:00 - 5:30

    Session 2: Starts week of February 4th:
    Fridays 6:00 - 7:30
    Saturdays 4:00 - 5:30
