    Runner on first attempting steal. Ground ball hit to pitcher who attempts force at second. Runner beats throw and runner is safe at first. How do I score at bat?

    DHarp is absolutely correct. When the ball is put into play the intent to steal no longer matters. The throw to 2nd in an attempt to get the runner out immediately results in a fielder's choice on the play. The batter is credited for both an at bat and a plate appearance, but her batting average, slugging and on base percentage will decrease the same as if she had grounded out on the play.

    10.05 Base Hits
    (b) The official scorer shall "not" credit a base hit when :
    (3) pitcher, the catcher or any infielder handles a batted ball
    and puts out a preceding runner who is attempting to advance
    one base or to return to his original base,
    or would have put out such runner with ordinary effort except for a fielding error.
    The official scorer shall charge the batter with a time at bat but no hit;
