The Mavericks pulled their starters after the third quarter. Im gonna go out on a limb here and say this team will contend for the state title this year. They are big, strong, and fast. Next week: Vance @ Mooresville.

Ragsdale broke open a 7-0 game late in the second with three TDs in 37 seconds to go up 28-0 at the half and cruise to their first conference win. Defense held late to keep the shut out.

    Wilmington New Hanover - 6

The field was incredibly slow due to the torrential downpour just a few hours before kickoff. It was ugly, but we'll take it.

Alexander Central 6-0 for the first time since 1983. Ground game accounted for over 400 yards tonight. Kyle Bradshaw ran for 5 td's. Offensive line was dominating. The Owens kid from Foard broke a long 80 yard run but was held in check other than that. Cougars are idle next week.

It started raining just before kickoff and rained most of the game.

    1st quarter
Following an interception by WONDER Josh Black, runs by Travis Riley and Antwoine Jordan got the ball down to the 2, then Travis took it in. Score 7-0 after Brenden Brown's PAT.

    2nd quarter
Then rain stopped shortly after the second quarter began and with around 6 minutes left in the quarter, Martel Campbell ran the keeper and scored. Score 14-0 after Brown's extra point.

    3rd quarter
K-town scored 3 times to put the game out of reach. Antwoine Jordan scored on a 12 yd. run..Score with Brown PAT 21-0,

Xavier Stanback scored the next TD on a two yd. run...Score 27-0 PAT failed

With about 2 minutes left in the third, Jacques Deese intercepted a Bulldog pass and ran it back approx. 30 yds for the score. Score 34-0 Brown PAT good.

    4th quarter
Rain started up again. With around 4 minutes left in the game, Robinson put 2 scores on the board against the reserves.

Final Score Kannapolis 34, JM Robinson 14

Ragsdale blows open a sluggish game with 3 TDs in 37 seconds of the second quarter to cruise over Parkland 42-0. Ragsdale came out running the ball getting some nice gains by D-onovan Smith and scored about five minutes into the game on a Luke Heavner 1 yard sneak for a 7-0 lead. Parkland also came out running surprisingly and despite some nice gains never could put a drive together.

Ragsdale wouldn’t score again until 4:19 in the second quarter on a nice 15 yard end around by Desean Anderson. Then the flood gates opened. On Parkland’s first play from scrimmage Daniel McNeil sacked Parkland QB and also drew a grounding call then on the next play recovered a fumble on the 7 yard line, Took Smith one play to score so 27 seconds later it was 21-0. Kasey Redfern who normally booms his kicks for touchbacks was kicking into the wind so he skied his second kick in a row high which was fielded about the time the coverage unit was there resulting in a fumble that was picked up by Darius McQueen around the ten and run in for a TD. Second week in a row McQueen scored on a fumble recovery. So ten seconds later its 28-0 Ragsdale.

Ragsdale would add two more scores. The next was on a beautiful receiver option pass converted by TuTu - Tyquan Roberts. He lofted a beautiful 45 yard pass to a wide open Luke Sonricker for a 35-0 lead 1:46 in the third. Ragsdale would score again early in the fourth on an 11 yard Barry Brown run. The second unit defense then held late to keep the shut out.

Ragsdale only threw it 12 times tonight. Heavner was 9-11 for 82 yards. Desean Anderson caught three for 27 yards and had a TD run. Luke Sonricker caught one pass – the 45 yard TD from Tyquan Roberts. Roberts also caught two passes for 26 yards.

D-onovan Smith was the workhorse tonight carrying 25 times for 142 yards and a score.

Defense once again came up big getting their first shutout of the season. Sad note in he fourth when Parkland #1 (Hairston?) was carted off on a stretcher after a long gain. He was down for a while – hope he’s okay.

Half way through the season Ragsdale now 6-0, 1-0. Up next is East Forsyth at home.
