Realignment - Thoughts?

    The mountains will definitely be affected with TC Roberson moving to 4A and East and West Henderson moving to 3A. Sets up 2 nice 2A and 3A conferences though (8 teams in each). I look for TC to replace Freedom in the NW 4A which drops to 3A. Freedom and Patton(new school) both 3A, will probably realign with Hickory area schools.

    2A:
    Pisgah, Smoky Mountain, North Henderson, Owen, Brevard, Mountain Heritage, Madison, and Polk County

    3A:
    Enka, Erwin, Tuscola, Asheville, Franklin, North Buncombe, West Henderson, East Henderson

    It would be nice to see the mountains eliminate the split conferences such as the WHC. Just my thoughts. Here's the link to the revised realignment numbers.

    Damn, those are some really big High Schools. I thought Ragsdale was big at 1700. Some of those schools are bigger than a lot of colleges.

    The school systems will be looking at this more as fuel cost increase. I will say that we may be seeing in the future getting back to more cost effective ways of student disturbution. And you can guess that sports will be the last thing they will be looking at. I will go as far to say fuel fees will be forth coming. Even limited travel or no travel for non traditional sports.

    They're concern over fuel cost didn't seem to come in to play with Ragsdale. We'll be spending half the year in Winston-Salem.

    Not saying today. If not mistaken realginment will be within a couple of years. It will come in to play as fuel cost and other items increase.

    Correct. The class of '010 will start the new realignment.

    Dont be so sure about TC Roberson moving to 4A, they have some really creative folks out there when it comes time to re-align.

    Would be great for the NCHSAA to post maps with conference teams shown.
    This would show the distances some teams have to travel. If not that the accumulative mileage each team travels to play conference teams.

    What is your longest conference road trip?
    AC Renolds and Aexander Central 100 miles one way. I am sure some some of the eastern teams may have longer trips.
