Question: What player is recognized as having the SHORTEST major league career?

1). He made it to the majors.
2). He appeared in a game.

My guess is Eddie Gaedel. The little fella that Bill Veeck put in one game.

He was about 3 feet tall.

    OK, Ill try again.

How about Harry Hartman - Dodgers.

Pitched to 6 batters - all hits and walk. Next day - enlisted in the military and never played again.

Ok ...it is kind of obscure.

In 1971, Larry Yount, brother of Robin Yount was called up from the minors. He spent 13 days in the bigs before finally being sent to the mound in relief.

As he was warming up on the mound, he developed pain in his elbow and had to be substituted for as an injured player. Since he had been announced, it counted as a game appearance, but he face no batters.

He recovered and spent time in the minors, ending up with an 8 year career but never made it back to the show, even though he did spend a couple spring trainings with the "big club".
