Question for HS coaches

    Have you ever had a time when you did not get support from your administrators? How did it affect you? How did you work around it? What lessons have you learned from that experience?

    ive been lucky enough to feel like i have always had the support and backing of the administration. it would be very difficult to make some of the difficult decisions a coach has to make if you don't have the backing of your administration. don't think it would change how i do things but it would be tough.

    I should have rephrased the question. I should have asked if , as a coach, do you know of another coach that did not get support from his administrators? How did it affect him?

    I'm not trying to get any coach in trouble with their current administrators. I was just curious about that kind of support (or lack of). It must be frustrating to put in all those hours, including working on your fields, and have to beg to get some baseballs from the AD

    Braves! As long as you know what you do and how you do it is the RIGHT thing to do you can relax and say, "if it weren t for all the fools around as we wouldn t have been awakened to a better or new opportunity..." Author pending!

    I personally know of a basketball coach that was not supported when parents complained about playing time on a team that went 20-2. The complaint stemmed from the fact that this coach had players on the team that had been in the system for 4 years and knoew it well. There were also some very talented young players that were excellent in their roles but not ready to start yet. Administration never supported the coach and the coach left. This coach had taken a team that had gone 2-18 the first season to 20-2 by the 4th year.
