there is no need to say that a player made the team b/c of who there parents are. The player made the team b/c of talent that was shown and proven.

South Meck vs. Independence & Central Cabarrus

2/21 - South Meck, alot vs. Independence, 4
The sun was shining, the air was warm, and baseball was back at the South Meck baseball complex. It does not get much better than that if you are a Sabre baseball fan, especially in mid February.

South and Independence took advantage of the nice day to play 12 innings of scrimmage ball. South looked good, scoring double figures in runs, while allowing only four.

2/25 - South Meck, alot vs. Central Cabarrus, 4
The afternoon started out fairly warm but the temperature dropped fast out at the Central Cabarrus diamond. There was plenty of hot chocolate sold out at CC on this particular night. It was another exciting night for Sabre baseball fans that traveled out to support their team.

South and Central Cabarrus both started out a little slow with their hitting and the game was actually tied 4-4 at one point. The scrimmage went about 11 innings when CC decided to call it a night. After all, CC's player's still had to dress the field after the game and it was 8:00pm already on a COLD, COLD school night. South looked good again, scoring double figures again in runs, while allowing only four runs again.

Golf, Comer actually kept 20 players, 1 is hurt and 1 could not dress that day. I agree that is too many but it is his team to coach, that is his call to make. I guess he's thinking about next year. As for who he kept I'll name the one's I can remember. Bowles, Atkins, Lackey,Smith, Mcclain,Clary,Russell these are junior's along with Corbet. I see no way he can play this many players. In years past he has always tryed to play everyone in non-conf. games but I would like to see him get a line-up together and get them as many innings and at-bats together as possible. That way they could may-be get on a roll by the time conf. starts. This is defenantly a very talented team as I think most everyone knows it should be their best team in a lot of years. Ofcourse anything can happen in baseball. The team will be senior led and my guess would be that Corbet will be the only junior to start. I hope the junior class will be patient and play their role as next year will be their time to play. Barring injury this team has the talent to go deep in the play-offs. Hope everyone will come out and watch them play. It should be exciting!

Just an observation: This is why showcase, AAU/USSA, and travel teams are so important. This is a team that will start 8 seniors. If a college coach shows up, then even though there might be a few juniors on this team that can play college baseball, they would never be seen.
