2,000 applicants? Do you really put 100% faith in what DQSS quotes? I dare say there isn't anywhere near that number of applicants for this event. I think it is just a lot of hype. I have not ever heard of anyone applying and NOT getting accepted. Queen of Diamonds is great in theory, but I believe at end of the day, this is just a great way for someone to make a nice little pot load of $$$. I think the event is way overrated. JMHO.

I hope I didn't hurt to many feelings with my comments. I'll sit back and watch all the comments come flying in now. I would love to hear from others that have been to this event in the past. Lets hear from the other side.

Ah. Exactly. Your comment nailed it on the head! They don't know anything about each player. Only what is put down on paper. Do you know how easy it is to look good on paper? And are you going to list a reference that wouldn't give a positive spin?

If they don't know who each player is, then how can they make the proper selections for an invite only event? When you use this approach, you miss players that should be there, and I know you get quite a few that aren't worthy of being there at all.

As someone who looked at EVERY avenue possible to get his daughter the exposure he thought she deserved, including starting his own showcases, I contacted Kurt after the deadline for the QODS 3 years ago. Maybe 2 and no more than 3 weeks before the event. She was placed on a waiting list and with 24 hours he had called back offering her a spot at her #3 position and we declined. Within 48 hours late, he called offering her a slot at her #2 position and we accepted. My daughter played in 2 of them. Please understand, the "johnny come lately" eager beaver (or late entry) has probably not made other plans and more willing to come on a moment's notice. Someone he declined, if there are any, probably made other plans.

As someone who does a similiar, but not the same type event, for the price he charges, I would questions that he actually has 2000 entries.

With 50 minute game slots, if you decide to go, it it vital that your daughter contact coaches in advance and take advantage of EVERY at bat she gets. She will only get 1 a game and probably, 4 or 5 during the entire event, so she better be at her best. Coaches know they have short time slots, so they have a set plan of who they want to see and when. If you are not willing to send the e-mails and do your part to make sure they will watch you, these all-star events are not worth it. Coaches do not have time to "look" for players. They are there to see the ones they know about and that is it.

But as I always say, ANY exposure is better than none and it does not take 100 coaches to be there to make it worthwhile, it just takes 1, the right 1.

    I agree with you....

....and I'll throw this into the recruiting equation. The #1!!!!! most important thing a kid can do for themselves is to contact coaches, PERIOD.
    K. Whiteside is obviously getting this point across to the kids.
Does this QDSS formula work in marketing itself by engaging the players? Yes, and I think thats great because its cost efficient for the tourn/showcase event and it pushes the players to get up off their butts and go to work informing the college coaches to try to be there. Perfect!
My DD played 2 yrs and she loved it.
Good value for your $ folks. JMO

I have to admit I thought QDS and the cup travels was a great marketing scheme and I felt really stupid when I let my dd talk me into allowing her to make application. That became 2 of the 3 best decisions she made. The 3rd being sticking with one travel team with a coach who worked with the development of skills as well making contacts with and on behalf of the kids in the right places with the right people.

$$$$ spent with no regrets (now)
