What do they want to do?

Im for letting the kid decide. Let them play whatever they want to play. If they choose to play one sport and work at it year round then fine. If they choose to play other sports then fine. In my opinion it has to be left up to the player. A kid working on baseball that would rather be on the football field is not a good situation imo. And a kid playing a sport he really does not have his heart in just for the sake of being on the team is not a good situation either. The player needs to make the decision because he is really the only one that truly knows what he wants to do. jmho

This is a very difficult question. Having gone through a few baseball interviews with college head coaches, one of the first questions asked is do you play another sport. I do think that college coaches like a player who has played multiple sports especially football because of the toughness of the sport. They like competitors and ones who will through their bodies on the line each day. If you do play one sport like baseball, the opportunity to play year round is out there. My son finished the first week in November and started with his high school team January 2nd. If you feel you have the opportunity to play at the next level in one sport, it is a difficult choice to play other sports with chance for injuries.

Play everything as much as they can, it makes for better athletes which is a primary criteria for success later. They will know when they need to concentrate on one, they don't need anyone to tell them. The best succeed at what they work at, not at what we push them to.

    Thanks heels.

It will definitely be his call as to what he does. It's his life, not mine.
