Need to freshen up the outdoor cage at our school , interested in putting down a black rubber flooring. Any advice / direction would be appreciated...

    if you're cheap

and have any contacts in the paving or concrete production business, talk to them about used conveyor belts. these are heavy enough so that they don't slide around and you can cut them to proper size.
In areas besides the batters boxes, and where the BP pitcher stands, you can put down stone screenings with a a covering of cheap astro turf. Use earth nails (8" or 10") and anchor down the edges. Crown the grade of the cage so that water runs off the sides and this set up will last along time. Use mats for the batter and pitcher areas.
