C'mon Dan....The sure thing was to tie it up with the PAT, especially with 5:00 remaining in the game. If our defense was up to par (indicative by the low scoring), we could have gotten the ball back to set up a potential game winning field goal or score a late touchdown. Although I wasn't there to see things personally, this was a brain fart on the side of the coaches.

I thought Mooresville would beat Bandys but to shut them out? Didn't see that, is Bandys hurting of offense?

Bandys may be in a rebuilding mode this season. They seemed to be talented but thin on numbers and green at QB. One thing in their favor is their coaching staff and they'll continue working with those kids. It was good to see that John Mackey is still on their staff and I got to speak with him before the game.

The Mooresville Blue Devils played great defensively. I have been filming for the football team since '99 and this team has the potential to be in the top two or three units I've seen during my affiliation with the team. Much of the credit goes to Defensive Co-ordinator Charles Hopkins Young, smart and quick, no superstars to speak of, this squad just plays good football. It was supposed to be the offense grabbing all the headlines this season and they should really come on as the season progresses. An offensive line that was still wet behind the ears last season has matured into a stout, driven group under the direct influence of head coach Barclay Marsh. Marsh has taken over the Oline due to changes in the coaching staff that mandated delegating responsibilty elsehwere. Notably (is that a word?), DeWayne Jackson taking over the Dline coaching duties and has done very well replacing the retired Gary Karriker. A second season into the W. Virginia style offense has paid dividends with a passing attack that will warrant respect from their opponents. Teams that once lined up 9 men in the box must now respect a tandem of QB's and a trio of recievers along with a stud FB and nifty HB. Things are looking up for Mooresville and the post-Mike Carter doldrums may be over.

Their next opponent is the AL Brown Wonders in Kannapolis. That makes for a second, tough opponent on the road to open this season. (edit - that game in Kannapolis will be played on 8/31)

    GO BIG BLUE!
