I think Clay Gibson, sr., came in against Providence, but I can't remember. Coach Rodriguez from UNC-G was at the game last night to look at Gibson who was throwing 84-85. Michael Maples, jr. lefty, came in for Gibson last night and also threw well. Last night, after 5 innings, Gibson had only given up three hits to Charlotte Christian, but was down 2-0, thanks to 4 errors and "little league" baserunning.

    AC vs. Watauga

Alexander Central defeated Watauga by the score of 4-2 on Monday in Boone. Matt Payne got the win for the Cougars while Greene suffered the loss for Watauga. Brandon Kinnaird got the save.

Alexander Central put one run on the board in the first to take the early lead. The lead lasted until the 4th or 5th inning when Watauga pushed a run across with a single into left field. The following inning the Cougars lit up with a series of hits and walks that pushed 3 runs across.

    Matt Payne pitched 6 1/3 innings with 9 K's.
    Brandon Kinnaird pitched 2/3 innings.

The Alexander Central Cougars are now in first place in the NW4A with a big win against Watauga. The Cougars visit South Caldwell on Tues.
