North Carolina/South Carolina Challenge

The NC/SC Challenge was completed on Saturday in Myrtle Beach. The boys from North Carolina defeated SC on Friday 3-1 behind the pitching of Stihl Sowers (ECU), Garrett Davis (UNC), and Dustin Harrington (ECU) held SC to 4 hits. NC was led by David Mailman (Wake) with 2 hits and rbi by Dusty Quattlebaum (NC State). Dusty and David also won the home run contest with a total of 8. This was done at the Ripken Experience field which is field turf and a very nice complex. On Saturday, SC defeated NC 7-5. Pitching for NC was Ryan Leach (NC), Trent Rothlin( Clemson), and Vance Williams (NC State) and Garrett Davis (UNC) work well in the 90 plus heat but couldn't slow down the SC bats. NC was led by Greg Holt (UNC) with a 3-run homerun and a sacrifice fly for his 4th one. Dusty Q. also hit a solo shot for our 5th run. David Mailman was named the NC Most Valuable player. SC was loaded with players going to South Carolina and Clemson. Many thanks to Coach Comis, Montague, and Hardee for the great experience that the boys received.

 

This has really developed into an elite tournament. I'm glad to see our boys doing so well. Congratulations to all those participating and especially to The Mailman for his MVP selection. Great job, guys!
