64 teams get in to the playoffs in each class - the 32 biggest schools by enrollment are the AA bracket - the 32 smallest are in the A bracket.

It's a stupid playoff system as way too many teams make the playoffs - some with only 2-8 or 3-7 records. Not to mention at the end of it all there are two champs in each class - maybe even from the same conference - so even after the playoffs - it's like college football where the two champs argue over which one is the "real" champ.

It's been like this for three years now and nobody likes it.

Plus it's so complicated they still don't have the brackets right yet - the ones HP posted have already changed and still are a work in progress.

Ah crap! If both Freedom and East Burke win their first game, they have to play each other again? I thought they did better with keeping teams from the same conference apart!

LOL! Even if we lose 100-0, we still dotted your perfect season and won the conference.

Plus- who ever wins the FHS-EB game (if there is one) has to play Indy next.

According to the Tony Poll, Independence is the #1 team in the Nation and Richmond County is tied for the #25 spot in the nation. Both are in the 4AA West.

That should be the match-up of the year if they both meet, and it won't even be for the state championship!!!!

Good luck to all the teams ...

    CHANGES!!

There have been A LOT of changes since those games were posted to this thread, including Weddington in 3AA not even being in the playoffs, and SEVERAL to the 4A games. Might want to go back and look at the brackets and redo those games.

Seeding is done this way, with all conference winners being #1, and second place finishers being #2's and third place finishers being #3's.. and so forth.
South Caldwell and Olympic both finished 4th in their conference and Alexander Central had 7 seed for the third place finishers, with South Rowan (5-5) having the worst record of the 3rd place finishers so they got the 8 seed. Since conference foes usually don't meet in the first round, they had to give South Caldwell the 9 seed and not the 10 seed, SO Olympic had to get the 10 seed because they both had the same over all record of 7-3.

    a. Seed all #1s by overall records- ties will be broken by the luck of a draw
    b. Seed all #2s by overall records - ties will be broken by the luck of a draw
    c. Seed all #3s by overall records - ties will be broken by the luck of a draw
    d. Seed all remaining team with four wins or more based on where they finish in their conference standing (ie, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th)
