South Rowan did back into the playoffs with Lexingtons win over Kannapolis. SR can be a very dangerous team in the playoffs. They have too many good players to be kept down. If Rowan takes them lightly in could get interesting.

Salisbury Radion WSAT station announced this morning that Area 3 commissioner has made the following ruling per final standings:

    1- Rowan County
2- Kannapolis (which should be correct because K was 3-1 against M & SC)
    3- Mocksville
    4- Stanly County
    5- Lexington
    6- Mooresville
    7- Concord
    8- Wilkes County

Sorry Intimidator, can't explain why South was left out. Yesterday's paper said otherwise, but just reporting what I heard this morning...

How in the world did Wilkes get in over South Rowan.

    From The Salisbury Post

    LINK http://www.salisburypost.com/sports/283609699789977.php

Area III head umpire Mike Thompson did his level best to explain all the possible scenarios to coaches and media late Wednesday night, and the media spent Thursday morning adding up the number of runs given up by Rowan, Kannapolis and Mocksville, just in case the runs-allowed tiebreaker came into play.
Thursday's Lexington-Kannapolis result, based on Wednesday's information, should have led to the following playoff seeds: 1. Rowan; 2. Kannapolis; 3. Mocksville; 4. Stanly; 5. Lexington; 6. Mooresville; 7. Concord; and 8. South Rowan.

But Area III commissioner Bob Beeson, who is from Wilkesboro, handed down a different interpretation late Thursday night.

Beeson believes Stanly should be third and Mocksville fourth. If Stanly is placed ahead of Mocksville, Wilkes gets in the playoffs and will be Rowan's first-round foe, while South is the team that is left out in the cold.

The area of contention is the jumbled, three-way tie for second between Kannapolis, Mocksville and Stanly.

Mocksville and Kannapolis split. Mocksville and Stanly split. Kannapolis swept Stanly.

The first tiebreaking criteria is "head-to-head." The second tiebreaker is performance against higher seeds.

What officials have to determine today is whether or not the three-way tie can be considered "head-to-head." If it is head-to-head, Kannapolis is clearly No. 2, Mocksville is clearly No. 3, Stanly is clearly No. 4 and South is in the playoffs.

South officials believe that's the correct interpretation of the rule.

Beeson, however, feels Kannapolis is No. 2 because of its sweep of Stanly, so his first order of business is to separate Kannapolis from the three-way tie. He then pits Stanly against Mocksville head-to-head.

Stanly gets the higher seed if it's matched up only against Mocksville because Stanly swept top-seeded Rowan, while Mocksville split with Rowan.

Hopefully, things can be settled today.

I have a feeling this is going to the state commissioner.

I'm disappointed that we have not heard an update on the pairings. What became of South Rowan/Wilkes or Mocksville/Stanly Co?? Anyone know the final?

This is ridiculous. 24 hours is more than enough time to secure President Bush's opinion. I am still wondering whether Lexington is playing Mocksville of Stanly Co. I guess we will drive to Mocksville tomorrow evening & see if Lexington's team bus is there.
