Not sure about the tiebreaker between Stanly/Mocksville. I know that the 2 teams split during the regular season. Also Mocksville split with both teams above them (Kann/Rowan), while Stanly swept Rowan but got swept by Kannapolis. So who knows?

As far as other tiebreakers,,, if Kannapolis beats Lexington tonight, the tiebreaker between Kann/Rowan will be "runs allowed" during the regular season (since they will be the top 2 teams, you go by runs allowed because there's no teams ahead of them). As of right now, (before tonight's game) Kannapolis has allowed one less run than Rowan, but Kannapolis still has a game to play tonight in barbecue country. So unless Kannapolis shuts out Lexington, Rowan will more than likely be the #1 seed. Keep in mind, this #1 seed is just for playoff seeding purposes alone. A Kannapolis win tonight will still make Rowan/Kann co-champs.

However, a Lexington win tonight will give Rowan the regular season title outright and will drop Kannapolis into a 3-way tie for 2nd with Stanly County and Mocksville. If you look at how those 3 teams did head to head, Kannapolis is 3-1, Mocksville is 2-2, Stanly is 1-3.

Keep in mind, regardless of how the regular season ends,,,,,,,, the REAL SEASON begins Saturday night...

Btw to Post 337 fan,,,,,,, concerning your playoff pairings listed above, in Area 3 the Southern Division teams don't start playing Northern Division teams until the 3rd round.

    The first round will be:
    S8 at S1
    S5 at S4
    S7 at S2
    S6 at S3

The 4 winners will meet in the 2nd round with the highest remaining seeds getting homefield. Then the 3rd round will put the remaining 2 Southern teams vs. the remaining 2 Northern teams with the highest Southern team facing the lowest Northern team and viceversa.

If I understand correctly, Kannapolis either shuts out Lexington tonight or the game is meaningless to them. What would happen if Lexington won? They would be tied w/ Mooresville, with whom they split. What is the next tiebreaker? Thanks.

UK7Dook3,,, right, we either shut out Lexington tonight to get the #1 seed, or with any other win, we finish with the #2 seed. With a loss, I've explained the scenario with us finishing tied for 2nd with Stanly and Mocksville.

However, you bring up another interesting point that a Lexington win puts them tied with Mooresville. I can only tell you that the first tiebreaker is how you did against teams ahead of you. I don't have all that info right in front of me, but I'm assuming you go back and see how Mooresville and Lexington fared against the top 4 teams.

Gets kinda confusing sometimes don't it??? :blah:

Area III Northern Standings Through 6/22:

    Randolph County 13-4
    Burlington 12-6
    WS 11-6
    Surry 11-7
    E. Randolph 11-7
    Kernersville 9-8
    Western Forsyth 8-9
    High Point 8-10
    Rockingham Cty. 4-14
    Yadkin Cty. 1-17

Final 2 games Tonight: Randolph @ WF and WS plays K-Ville, not sure where. Randolph Cty. has locked up #1 seed, but these 2 games could mean some movement in the middle of the pack. Not sure of all the tiebreaker possibilities.
