Agreed We played at Springwood for the first time in the Pride a few weeks ago great fields and well maintained.
Walnut Creek was at one time the best facility in NC but that was back in 1998 when we went there fir the first time with Butler. Man it was exciting to have played at that place back then. Now the fields are a mess. and that lack of field prep played a big part in one game that I know of. It is a shame that something is not done by the NCHSAA to insure that ALL state championship games, no matter the sport are played on fields that are at least safe to compete on. At walnut the transition and condition of the OF grass was at times hazardous to the girls.
What I find ironic is that while we are looking at separate venues as an option, Base ball is talking about bringing all four Div. together for their championships, If the do combine all of Baseball I bet it is at a great facility.

Most of the posts I've read indicate that the problem is the conditions at Walnut Creek. I suggest we put the emphasis on getting the people in charge of the Creek to bring it up to standards at least.

They waste so much opportunity in Raleigh as far as our sport is concerned. They seem to be aware of the money softball brings to the area but they don't seem to want to put the effort into making softball feel welcome. After softball finds other areas that really want them Raleigh/Cary will spend more money trying to lure them back.

    I agree with you Phreak
But I don't think the NCHSAA will put any pressure on Raleigh. Maybe the ASA will as they and the Cardinals hold some pretty big tournaments up there.
But as usual with school / Gov agencies it usually boils down to politics.
I would like to think our HS coaches association has some pull but from what I hear it is not quite enough to change much if anything. I think as the coaches group grows stronger in numbers it will reach a point where it can really make a difference but I just don't see that right now.

I've emailed a link to this thread to [email protected]

Don't know if it will help. If everyone emailed those in positions to do something we could make an impact. It doesn't take thousands of emails; a few dozen would do. Maybe even less from someone with some clout.
