    The 2003 South Granville HS grad pitched 8 innings, allowing only 3 hits, no BB and fanned 8. The big lefty picked up his 5th win of the year since his call up a month ago.

    Great performance

    by Matt. He really had all his pitches working and did a great job of hitting his spots all night long. It looks like everytime he goes out there he is more and more confident in his ability to get ML hitters out. I think he retired something like 13 straight at one point in the game.

    He retired the last 18 batters he faced. After Matt's first 3 starts, the Rangers fired their pitching coach and promoted their AAA coach from OK City. This has really helped Matt.
