Now here is one for you. I was watching the Braves game and something caught my eye. Does your name get you there? I know you think this is strange but look at your teams 40 man rooster. Look at the names. You decide.

 

I don't think there is any question that having the right pedigree helps get you to the show. But is this really any different than any other line of work?

Negative One Putt and others! Billy Ripken i.e. brother of Cal Jr. was one of three talented players on our HS team and the other two were much better, I repeat significantly better/more talented/had more potential than he and welllllll the rest of the story is history!!!!!

I have no idea who Plate Dad is referring to with the Braves. I wasn't even referring to baseball. I was referring to the comment about how we see this in other aspects of life and it's true, we do.

I cross paths with many people who couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat (probably some feel that way about me) but they come from the right family or knew the right people. And I have no sour grapes. What someone else does doesn't impact my situation. Someone else's good fortune doesn't prevent me from achieving. The only person that holds me back is me.

I don't know how Cal Ripken and Bily Ripken came up.

I dont think plate dad was reffering to name/family lineage.I took his question as reffering to (I dont really know the word for it) but maybe haveing a "catchy" name??? Salty, Tex,ARod, were names that were easy to give nicknames to. Those are all deserving of making the bigs, so that might not be a good example. PlateDad??? can ya clear this up????
