I found this message on another board and thought it might get better coverage here.

    It's a 2006 Championship Ring!

I think those of you who know me know I am a law Enforcement Officer I have a State Championship ring that was turned in to me and I do not know who it belongs to. The ring has a ball and a bat on 1 side so i am assuming it is either baseball or siftball. It has the name Whittington on 1 side and it looks like the number 7 in the middle of the ball and the initials lf under the ball I think this is for left field. If anyone knows who this is have them call me at 910-295-7780. Thanks

I would check the championship schools for 06. Can find on NCHSAA. Check the Championship teams for that year. I would think you could find the info there. Call the school and ask the coach about his players for that year.

    who provides the rings?

does the State HS athl assoc provide those rings to State champs, or are they provided by the player's school? this question came up at our booster club mtg.

It is up to the school or club. Some booster clubs have a seperate fund set up. The school is not allowed to take funds from the school to pay for rings and such. However, if donations can be found for that. I think it is sad that funds can not be seacured for things like this for the schools. Budgets are tight and with systems taking money from sports for the education part is put more pressure on booster club to make up the differance. Then the ring (kind) is up to the team. A plain one is around $90 or so. Most run around $175 to $250. It is all about what you can afford.
