As of Tuesday morning, Kristy has been recruited to play for a bigger and better team than anybody ever would have expected so early. Just as she was tough at the plate and tough in the pitching circle, she was tough and fought hard the last week of her life. I know that she was in no pain during that time, but her muscle memory was use to being tough and fighting so it did what it always did. Though it is hard and we will forever miss her, we have to push ourselves to remember the Kristy that we all know and love. She would expect nothing less from all of us. Kristy came into my life like a whirlwind and is going out like a whirlwind. I always looked forward to our weekly pitching lessons. No matter how my day was going, I always knew that Kristy would be able to put a smile on my face. Whether it was from her successes or just Kristy being Kristy. I know she had that affect on all of us. I was fortunate enough to be able to see her this past Sunday. Even though it was hard, I was glad to see her. It's hard to believe, but I know she was all ready at peace. Kristy will always be in our hearts and our minds. I only got to coach and know her for a short amount of time. In that short amount of time though, she taught me more than I taught her, and for that I will forever be a better coach. Please continue to pray for her immediate family, her Team TFS family, and her Eastern Alamance family.

Kristy Edwards was 14 years old and from Mebane, NC. She attended Eastern Alamance High School and was a member of the Team TFS 14u. Kristy suffered something very similar to a brain aneurysm Sunday before last. She had a malformation of blood vessels in her brain. There was no way of knowing this could have happened to her unless for some reason she had a CAT Scan at some part of her life. She remained in a coma until this past Tuesday when she passed away. She will be laid to rest tomorrow in her Team TFS uniform, her green cleats from her high school team, and her personalized Monica Abbott signed softball. Please pray for her family, her teammates from both teams, and all the supporting families. She will be sorely missed.

I know that the Edwards family, her Team TFS family, and her Eastern Alamance family thank everyone for their prayers and the things they have posted on this board. Thank you from all of us.

I am at a loss for words. This is the most heartfelt, decent, Godly thing anybody could ever write about another person.

This is what coaching/mentoring is what it is all about. If you are coaching for any other reason than to make a kids life better, you are in it for the wrong reasons...

Thank you for writing this so we can all appreciate Kristy and what her life meant while she was here, even though it was for such a short time........
