    add on?

could you include what purpose the JV serves at different sch's, how much & when do they practice compared to Varsity, do they practice with or separate from varsity, do some teams have jr's and sr's on JV, does JV coach also assist with varsity in all cases???? how many coaches on the JV/varsity staff? any other interesting tidbits of info.

Ok East, here's our take at Hunter Huss. the JV program is a pure training program for the varsity team. I spend my time teaching basic skills, evaluating players for specific positions that I know will open up the next year or so on the varsity team.
we practice every day we dont have a game including saturday.
we practice first from 3:15 until 4:00 when the varsity comes, we practice our infield seperate, but we do hitting/bunting drills with the varsity and face live pitching from varsity pitchers.
we have some juniors on the jv team, but no seniors are allowed on the jv team, dont know if thats a school rule or whatever, but it works for me.
i am the head jv coach, and one of three assistant varsity coaches, the other assistants help me with jv, and the head varsity coach keeps his eyes on specific players.

again, my job as head jv coach is to train girls for the positions we know we have opening up. it's seeming to work, as i currently have three freshmen that will definately be on varsity next year, and if the varsity players dont watch out, they may end up on varsity this year. competition is great, isnt it??

    Hopewell JV on a Roll!

Hopewell JV has shown well so far this season. Record is 5 and 0, with wins over Central Cabarrus and JM Robinson in the past week. This team has outscored their opponents 56 - 5, with closest game 7 - 3 vs. Central Cabarrus. Makeup of team is split evenly between Freshman and Sophomores.

Game vs. Butler (@ Hopewell) on April 18th, will be one to watch. 2 very talented teams.

    NO JV?

Guru, No JV team at Porter Ridge? Is it because there weren't enough girls to come out for softball? I think this has become a problem at a lot of schools, especially around Charlotte. About half the teams in our conference don't field JV teams either. Unfortunately for those schools that do have JV, there aren't many games to be played, so it makes it a little harder to try and develop the girls. Thank goodness for Tournament Ball.
