    Glenn High 2012 catcher Jason Smith has committed to Western Carolina.
    Jason is also a player for the Dirtbags Black.
    Congratulations to J and his parents Mike and Debbie.

    Coach Moranda and the Catamounts are getting one of the hardest working and most determined kids to ever lace em' up.

    Would also add that the staff, particularly Coach Beck in recruiting, was "class" to speak and deal with! Anyone headed to Cullowhee is going in the right direction.

    Congrats to Jason! Saw this kid when he was very very young around age 6 or 7 and even then he was begging his dad Mike to throw batting practice non stop! Kid works very hard! Congrats Jason!!

    Hard Work Pays Off

    I know when you workout at 6:30 am before school starts you want it bad! Jason has gone from 130 to 205 in about 3 years and made himself into a D1 prospect. I know it is a dream come true and it shows that hard work pays off! When you play the game with respect and as hard as you can all the time coaches notice! He has only been catching regular for about 3 years and will only get better. The power at the plate will only get better as he gets stronger. He can hit it along ways now and is becoming a much better 2 strike hitter. Congratulation Jason and Western Carolina you have a good ball player and a great young man!

    Well Coached for years by his Dad Mike. Great kid that looks you right in the eye and is respectful. Another good player headed for the time of his life!

    Great job Jason - and congrats to you and your family.

    You need to look up J.D. Long --- great kid, outstanding family, will be one of your teammates at WCU. You guys will get along great.

    Very happy for you Mike - I know you are proud and you should be!
