I'm very critical of officiating because I believe that since the players pracitice all week and bring their "A" game, that the umpires should do the same.

Well, last night at the Fuquay/Laney game the gentleman (I don't know his name) who was working the plate had a good strike zone and was very consistant with his calls. He, unlike many of his peers, knew that if a curve ball was caught off the plate, that in fact it had to cross over the plate to be caught where it was.

He was a little leery when I approached after the game (I guess he was thinking that I was going to critisize him) but he accepted my compliments and I hope he will keep up the good work.
