Just a note... NCSU's games this weekend are in Charleston, SC. Not sure who else is in that bracket, but I know State plays NEB in their first game down there.

Some fun games on wednesday .....

    UNCA versus Furman ...

Furman jumped out to a 3-1 lead and held the lead into the 8th inning. Both teams had 5 hits at this point, but Furman had been helped by some Asheville errors. UNCA scored one in the 8th and 9th to tie the game and won it in the 11th by a final of 5-3 .....

Elliot Arrington went 4-6 in the game with 3 RBI's and a HR. It was the season opener for both teams.

    High Point versus Wofford ....

Wofford scored early to take a 3-1 lead in this game but High Point came back and took the lead, holding on to a 8-3 final score. Chris Norwood and Alfie Wheeler led the attack for the Panthers. Both teams are now 3-4 on the year.

    Elon versus Duke ....

Elon struck early and often, jumping out to a lead. Duke plated 3 runs in the middle innings, but the Elon relievers shut down their attack and the game ended with a score of Elon on top 9-3 ... The Elon pitchers struck out 11 while allowing 1 BB. Both teams are now 2-2 on the year. Ryan Basham picked up the win for the Phoenix. Brett Bartles came into the game leading the Duke attack, including the first HR of the season for the Blue Devils (grand slam - versus Seton Hall), but was held in check. The Blue Devils scattered 6 hits throughout the game. Chris Vasami (3-3) and Paul Bennett (2-2) led the Elon attack.

    ---------------
Listened on the radio to the games ... it was a blast.

Mangini went 2-3 and I believe his avg. dropped. :banginghe

NCSU was shut down (literally) until late in the game when Mangini finally broke up Joba's no-hitter. Mangini and Synan hit back to back HRs in the last(?) inning to make it a 4-3 game. BTW, the HR's came off of Brett Jensen, he is their "#1 Closer". Great effort by the Pack, just couldn't get anything going early.

State plays two more in Charleston this weekend.
