    Matt Foard, Piedmont High/UNCC pitcher who graduated this year from UNCC signed a minor league contract Saturday with the Yankees.

    When I heard Thursday morning that he had gotten the call from the Yankees a couple of days prior, I was so thrilled for him. He is such a great young man. Several of us feel he didn't get as many opportunities as he deserved over the last 4 years, so it is especially sweet to see him get his chance past college. He is truly deserving. Congratulations Matt!

    Hey you and me both. Never did understand why he was used so little. He told me they got him to drop his arm slot a few inches this year and he picked up a few MPH which seemed to make him more effective. Best of luck to him as he is very deserving.

    Matt got his first taste of Pro ball last night facing one batter and striking him out in a Gulf Coast League game. He is pitching for the GCL Yankees.
