FSU Baseball Ranked No. 1 By Collegiate Baseball
Seminoles reach the top spot in the poll for the first time this season.

    March 19, 2007

Tallahassee, Fla. - Florida State earned its first No. 1 ranking of the season as released by Collegiate Baseball on Monday, March 19. The Seminoles, who opened ACC play last weekend with a sweep of Wake Forest, jumped previous No. 1 Vanderbilt in the poll. With Mississippi handing the Commodores their first loss of the season last Saturday in Nashville and Arkansas taking two of three from previously unbeaten Kentucky, it made the Seminoles the lone undefeated team in Division I baseball.

Florida State has produced both offensively and defensively this season and at 23-0 is off to their best start in the 60-years of Seminole baseball. The Seminoles are batting .390 as team, while posting a team ERA of 2.63 and a fielding percentage of .969. Tony Thomas, Jr. has led the offensive production through the first 23 games batting .516 on the year posting 48 hits and 41 runs. The trio of Bryan Henry, Michael Hyde and Ryan Strauss has led the pitching staff in 2007 as the three have combined to post a record of 17-0 with an ERA of 2.03.

It's the first time the Seminoles have been ranked No. 1 in the nation by Collegiate Baseball since returning to the top spot back on March 14, 2006, a position they held for six weeks.

In other national polls released on Monday, Florida State moved to No. 2 in the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches' Poll, while climbing to No. 3 in Baseball America.

Well there goes the undefeated record. Florida state lost 5-3 just a minute ago to Jacksonville University. FSU gave it to them after making two errors in the bottom of the third giving them 4 runs which would hold them off in the end. Finally got ranked 1st nationally, and blew it. :banghead:
