When we first started playing this game the top 3 or 4 hitters in the lineups were usually the only major offensive threats. Now i am beginning to see teams that have good hitters from the top to the bottom of the lineup.Does anyone else think this it true, and to what do you attribute this change.

It has to be attributed to better training

    still pitcher-dominated

true to an extent when the pitchers are not superior, but when there's really good pitchers involved, many game scores are still low like 1-0, 2-1, etc. From a school ball perspective, with the expansion of the population in many parts of NC creating new schools frequently, the really good pitching may get somewhat diluted during phases.

:1peekdoor :1peekdoor My take on the matter would be the training issue over the diluted pitching remark due to geographic regions...there are tons of drills out there that at one time could only be accessed by the knowledgeable coaches ,but now are available to everyone via internet.......so many speed drills are now available with one push of the button to increase bat speed when faced with upper 50 mph to lower 60 mph pitchers.....from the tee to drop zone drills to soft toss have matured batters to be more productive in the lower parts of the line up.....also the constant training of the select ball players and the muscle memory reaction times in young athletes to swing quicker and get the bat through the strike zone quicker....and to conclude the composite bat designs put more pop on the ball, and allow kids to have more confidence in their swings.......call it what you will, but I would rather go in to bat with confidence than with doubt to do a job with efficiency and end up with a positive outcome......Softball Guru.......:1peekdoor

    hitters are better

I am a pitcher, I agree that most hitters are becoming more frequent with hits all the way through the line-up. I think that it is true that there is so many drills and ways to pick up on the pitches that all hitters are becoming better through out the line-up. So its probably being noticed every where that most times if you want to be good, you are on a travel ball team or somtime type of league that will help intensify your training and your ability.:lach:

    Thanks,

Better technique, but YOU have to give credit to the bats also. As long as you make some kind of contact with today's bats, you can get a base hit. You don't even need to be a big girl to hit the ball anymore. That's how it use to be. Technology is AMAZING. As a coach I get mad at the girls that can't get a hit. Just make contact. I have a hard time with the new bats hitting infield/outfield. I have to learn how to tame down my swing. Believe me it's not my swing, that was many years ago. It's the bat.

Out with the old in with the new. Sure wish I had some of the bats they're selling today when I played.

    :woohoo:
