    agree

Yes when the Heels pulled Woodard early, that seemed to be a hasty decision; he didn't seem to be in big trouble at the time.
Later, the Heels suspect defense (their only weakness this season) showed up again.

    I'll be nice

I'll be nice. It was a heck of a CWS. I really felt that UNC was the better team & would prevail in the end, but that's the reason you actually play the games. UNC had an outstanding ball club. If they find an effective starting pitching rotation, they should really be very good in '07 with lots of offense.

It would be interesting to follow the careers of those OSU pitchers that pitched lots of innings with very minimal rest to see if they suffer any ill effects later. Hope not for their sakes.

Congratulations to the Oregon State Beavers!
    :trophy:

...and to the other seven teams who reached the College World Series. Each is to be congratulated on a very successful season!

It pretty much makes me sick to go to the official Tar Heel baseball website and read that Bryan Steed's (catchable ?) errant throw (to a catcher playing first) cost the game, and national championship.
What a bunch of baloney and lack of class to single out a player like that.
Someone else needs to step forward and take some responsibility.

Simple fact: The TEAM did not score enough runs.

No player should ever be singled out. It is team effort, win or lose.

I couldn't agree more...there was plenty of blame to go around...the play that involved the 2nd baseman could have happened to anyone...and agreed it could very well be stated as a "catchable ball"....Let's talk about Fox's decision to put Flack on 3rd, or his decision to interrupt the flow of Bard by going out and talking to him while he was clearly doing well and throwing his heart out; or his decision to switch 2nd baseman in the middle of the game....lots of blame to go around...starting at the top! There there was the mental errors by other UNC players earlier in the game. To single out one player individually is totally wrong.

Good point. Cavisini reached based 4 out of 5 times in the leadoff spot and never scored. That's a guy with plus, plus speed.
    2-6 hitters were a combined 3-20 with 0 RBI.
Two runs is not gonna win many college games.
The thing about taking 3 guys out of their normal positions, is that it can also affect their hitting.

I want to congratulate UNC for their unbelievable year. They've accomplished what no other NC college team has done since 1955...played for the National Championship.

I want to especially salute Daniel Bard for his performance. It was masterful.
To be throwing 97-98 into the 8th inning and to do it so effortlessly...well, that's why he was drafted in the 1st round. The young man pitched the game of his life.
