I know that Dodgerblues wants this by team and wants us to mention everyone, BUT ...

.... to the best of my knowledge, we don't have any posters from the Yadkin Valley 1A conference. We have occasionally mentioned 1 player from over there (d'oh when you see the name), but don't give that conference any real recognition.

I'm NOT going to be able to do this one justice, but I did some research, looked through some old scorebooks, talked to a guy coaching on the 14-16 year old level and put together a pretty lame overview.

Its up to you posters to improve it.....

    Yadkin Valley 1A

Teams: Albemarle, Chatham Central, East Montgomery, Jordan-Matthews, North Moore, South Davidson, South Stanly, Thomasville, West Davidson

    Players to watch:
Bradley Holt (Albemarle – UNCW bound)
    Ryan Lambert (Chatham Central)
    Tris Burnette (Jordan-Matthews)
    Matt Henson (Jordan-Matthews)

Younger players who should have an impact:
    Pemberton (sp?) Soph, East Montgomery
    Lambert, Soph, East Montgomery
    Houser, Fresh, East Montgomery

    Teams to watch:
    • South Stanly: Returning majority of team from last season
    • Chatham Central: Returning majority of team, Dominate pitcher in Lambert.
    • Jordan-Matthews: Lost a lot to graduation. Returning Burnette and Henson. Dangerous
    • Albemarle: Excellent RHP in Brad Holt. Need to find Arm #2 who throws strikes. S/b Ok.
    • East Montgomery : A year away. Once Lambert/Holt gone, they could start dominating as early as next season.

    Summary:
    1. Brad Holt will dazzle everyone again, but he can’t pitch every game. He's consistently in the high 80's and breaks 90 with regularity.

    2. With so many strong contenders in the conference, the team who has the best #2 pitcher will probably end up standing at the end of the season. My pick for #1 is Chatham Central, then Albemarle, Jordan Matthews, East Montgomery.

    3. This conference is deeper top-bottom than most every other 1A conference in the state. South Stokes has had an amazing run, but the Yadkin Valley is probably consistently better than the NW1A.

Good post! Albemarle strong with Holt, depth ?, lost alot to graduation.

North Moore lost a ton to graduation, but always tough at home.

JM depends on big lefty,Dowd on mound, Hinson pure hitter does not get exposure tht he deserves, excelllent defensive jump on ball in of, Burnette loaded with talent but has spent 4 yrs working on football instead of his best interest, good arm, excellent speed, strong hitter but has not developed, only plays feb-may.

West Davidson- spunky bunch could upset someone along the line.

East Montgomery could have another good year but lost a lot of leadership in the older Kennedy

Chatham Central, Lambert on the mound very good, time for juniors to step up. Seth Kivett, Cole Hudson, Michael Bayles, Kyle Scott, Spencer Moody, Spencer Andrews, Jonathan Sessoms, Aubrey Johnson all played on State Champion Babe Ruth team,CHEMISTRY will be the key for a sustained run.

    South Davidson always a ?

South Stanly should be PRE-SEASON FAVORITE if they continue where they left off last year. Almost all returning.

Thomasville all empasis on FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL, what a shame for those kids that really care about the game. transfer in to play those sports and transfer out to play baseball.
