I am just a little bit confused. I think, and I could be wrong, there are two different tourneys held in Colorado around the 4th of July. One is something called Colorado Fireworks and the other is the Louisville Slugger Independence Day Tourney.

Does anyone know the difference between the two tourneys?

I was looking at the field of teams for each one and the talent level looks like the same at each one. I don't think any of the teams out there can be considered an 'easy' victory....

There are three (3 ) tournaments going on at the same time...
The Big one is the Independance Day & limited to 80 select teams.
The Louisville is limited to 32 teams trying to qualify (top 8 )
to get in to the Independance. Bottom 8 drop out.
If you can't get in to the first two then you can play in the Fireworks in Aurora, this year 127 teams.
    This is pretty close ???

Now I better understand. Thanks! Once you get all that talent in all thee tourneys, it's sometimes hard to tell who is who. It is great to see the NC teams representing themselves very well.

    Sparkler

The Sparkler tournament is also going on I think that is where the CFS team is playing. We went to it in '03. Good tournament. Not as much exposure as the Boulder or Aurora Tournaments.

As I understand it, the Sparkler in Boulder, is the week prior to the fireworks. Fireworks ends on July 4. The others are playing, just prior to Fireworks, and they overlapp somewhat. Even the fireworks is a selected team thing, however, based much more loosely than the independance. Last year for the fireworks, the only way we got in as a first year team, was a team that has returned 3 years in a row, verified that we could compete.

So some teams that travel (I only know this as DD was asked to play for a team this season that included both tourneys), go to Colorado for the entire duration and play both tourneys. but they dont go for just the tourneys, there is a large "camp", in between the sparkler and the fireworks, where a lot of the scouts go to watch players. they use colored wrist bands to indicate age. I have been told this by a couple of folks that attended, but have not attended our selves, so dont know all the symantics.

hope that is some additional info for ya.

My dd is buddies with some of the CFS white players. She asked them earlier today which tournament they were playing in and they are at Aurora
