Coaching Limbo

It is becoming more apparent that we will have a coaching change after two wasted seasons. My question and concern is filling out the info sheets for colleges and showcases. Who will we put down as his high school coach? How badly will it reflect on the player that there won't be a coach listed to act as a reference? We've already filled out several and soon they may not be accurate. Any suggestions? Thanks.

 

Don't sweat it. A HS coach recommendation is only important if the coach is respected by the interested parties. Most recruiters contact the summer and fall coaches to get their feedback.

I would list his current coach and let it be. The fact that the coach may not be back is not a reflection on your son's abilities.

In addition to "seconding" Braves' response, I'd suggest that you consider adding a reference to your son's summer and/or fall coach. Many college questionnaires ask for that, as well; but, there's nothing to prevent you from adding it even if the questionnaire doesn't mention it. Don't forget to include their contact information.

 

I agree with Braves and Prepster. I would simply list the current coach and list summer/fall coaches. They will contact the coaches from your area or scouts they know anyway.
