Coaches who talk bad about a player?

Is it usually a practice when a boy leaves a team for any reason, that the Coaches talk bad about the player?
Specially if they are being actively recruited?
Or misinforming coaches and scouts about the boy?
How much pull does a HS coach or travel team coach really have?
Just a father here with a curiosity if this happens?

In my experiece, I have not heard much bad talk about anyoe who has left a team unless there were attitude or work ethic problems. I have heard more the kid was ok, the parent was the issue.

 

It depends who is the coach and who he is telling it to. But in general, most coaches who intentionally talk bad about a player is usually a coach that tells those things to anybody who will listen---especially to parents since they are the only one's that will listen.

That's not to dismiss the kid that may be a cancer with his attitude and approach to the game, but most coaches don't listen to that crap. They will make their own decisions about character.

Some coaches have it---respect. And some don't. The one's that don't can talk all day long...ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz
