It is with great sadness that I let you know that Cindi Arnold passed
away this morning in her sleep. Cindi was one of the top umpires in the state and was my UIC at our Cardinals tournaments for many years.
She had fought a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer for many months.
Cindi is a NC ASA HOF member and also a booking agent for many of the colleges in and around our area.
She was a wonderful lady and we will miss her immensely!

One of the great umpires and people in the game in North Carolina. She was always willing to talk about the rules and explain things in great detail. 99% of the time I talked with her, I learned something new, and became a better coach because of it.

I agree with Rick, she will be missed immensely.

Cindi was a great umpire and an amazing lady. We shared many a "what if" conversations over the years where we both learned and laughed a lot. She will certainly be missed.

    Cindi Arnold Memorial Project

For anyone interested in donating toward a memorial in Cindi's honor, a Gofundme page has been set up...

    https://www.gofundme.com/CindiArnold

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following was taken from the C.A.M.P. page:

Cindi Arnold was an elite umpire with the ASA and NCAA for over 30 years where she had the privilege of calling in many ASA nationals as well as numerous NCAA post season assignments and championship games. She also was an ISF official and called numerous USA Softball and international championships. In addition to being a very outstanding official the legacy that Cindi will be remembered for was her passion for instructing umpires, the love of the game along with the respect she had from her peers for her knowledge of the game and the kind way she treated others. Cindi passed away this past January after an 8 month battle with pancreatic cancer.

We challenge all umpires, coaches, and friends who were positively touched by Cindi to donate one game fee to the Cindi Arnold Memorial Project (C.A.M.P). The money will be used to purchase and install benches overlooking softball fields at some of the softball complexes where Cindi worked and trained umpires throughout her career. Our new goal is $10,000. The more we raise, the more we can do.

We have selected the site for the first memorial: Burlington, NC at the NC Softball Hall of Fame, in which Cindi was inducted as an umpire. The Hall of Fame building overlooks Springwood Park, where Cindi umpired and taught many of us how to be better umpires. We will post the artist's rendering of the proposed memorial benches and sitting area when we receive the arcitectual drawings back from the team.
